Hi! Welcome to my new blog. I will be posting some pictures from my summer camps and for our September PROJECT OF THE MONTH very soon. I hope this will be a useful tool for my students for helpful hints and sewing websites.
Hi! I'm Eileen Manes, your sewing instructor. I am a wife and mother of three children. Let me tell you a little about my long-standing love affair with sewing. I started with my first class at age nine. By the time I entered Junior High, I was making most of my own clothing. I made all my own clothes through high school and college.
I have called Denton home since 1986 when I moved here to study at North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas. In 1987 I earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management. Primary emphasis: Clothing and Textiles with a concentration in Fashion Design. After graduation, I was employed as a Pattern Maker and Pattern Grader in the clothing manufacturing industry in Dallas, Texas where I worked for several dress and sportswear designers.
In addition, I have sewn for the public, including the construction of several custom wedding gowns. I also worked as costume designer for the Little Theatre on campus of Texas A&M University at Kingsville.
I love your new BLOG! How fun and informative. I'll check back often. Sharon
